Abstract

The study aimed at determining the impacts of FDI on South Sudan. The data collection approach involved a review of secondary data based on ethnographic design. Two theories were involved; the location-based approach and the institutional FDI fitness theories in order conduct to study. The results of the study are very important and form a braod base of information. Apart from determining that South Sudan has not been able to fully leverage FDI, the study also determined that FDI has failed to improve South Sudan’s economy and that poverty levels in the country remain high. Additionally, it was noted that despite small improvements in FDI levels, South Sudan's citizens continue to live in poverty and the nation is still wracked by a protracted civil war that has claimed thousands of lives. The main policy implication of the study is that South Sudan needs to take robust steps to create a political, social, and economic environment that will attract more foreign direct investments in to the country.
