Abstract

The conformational changes of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) extracted from Pseudomonas putida ATCC 11172 at different pH values in solution where studied using fluorescence spectroscopy. The EPS was labeled using 8-aminopyrene-1,3,6-trisulfonic acid, tri sodium salt (APTS). The interactions between APTS and EPS surface in dilute aqueous solution were monitored using fluorescence spectroscopy. Steady state, excited state and time-resolved anisotropy measurements (TRAMS) were used to provide information about the changes in conformational behavior of the APTS as they bind to EPS surfaces.
